BOX 42 ASSOCIATES

Greetings from Box 42 Associates! Our September 2006 meeting was held at Ypsilanti Township Fire Station One. The crew on duty gave us a rundown of their new 800 MHz radios. In November we traveled to the new quarters of Detroit Engine 27, Ladder 8 and Chief 7 on West Fort Street. This station opened a month earlier and is part of the Southwest Detroit Public Safety Center. We treated the crew to a hot lunch, thanks to Life Member Tony Isaac. In December we met at Troy Station Three, where the members were given a presentation by Chief Bill Nelson on Oakland County's new M/A Com Open Sky Radio System.

The New Year started off with our annual dinner at the Firehouse Restaurant in Roseville. A buffet dinner, door prizes and good hospitality made for an enjoyable evening. The fire fighters at Dearborn Heights Station One hosted us for our February meeting. In March, members and guests traveled south to Wheatley, Ontario for a tour of Hike Metal Products where they are building a new fireboat for Baltimore Maryland FD. We toured the boat and asked many questions of Amy Stanton, President of the company, who hosted the tour. Afterwards, the group traveled to Kingsville Station One for a short business meeting and lunch.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of long time Box 42 member and Past President Jeff Cherensky, who passed away on April 2nd after a long illness.

Any department willing to host a Box 42 meeting, please contact our Secretary/Treasurer and Editor Dan Jasina at 248-544-1710. For more information on Box 42, check out our website at www.box42.net or email Dan direct at box42@box42.net.
