Message from the Director

Hope everyone had a safe summer. I have been on a leave of abscence the last two months due to my wife being ill and hope to be back by the first of October. Hopefully I will be seeing some of you up north for the Michigan Fire Fighters Memorial September 13-16. Not to worry, the staff of MAFF continue to be on the job and available to help with any issue that may arise.

I am also pleased to say that the Novi paid-on-call and Auxiliary Fire Fighters have their first new contract. After going to a number of Mediation hearings and four Arbitration hearings, the Union and fire fighter's feel that we came out ahead. We never stopped fighting for what we felt was best for the membership. I would like to thank everyone on the department for their support through this long battle.

I would also like to thank the fire fighters in Mundy Township for their support on their new contract and for the negotiating team for the work well done.

We are still in negotiations for Washington Township paid-on-call's first contract.

In closing, our deepest sympathy goes to the Chesterfield Fire Department in the death of Fire Fighter Chris Kujan. Our prayers go out to your department and to the family of Fire Fighter Kujan.
